
The Sam Houston State University Bearkats finished third place in the Track Kat Klash on Saturday, the final day of competition. They finished behind first place winner Vanderbilt University who was followed closely in second by Louisiana Tech University.
They finished the tournament with an overall record of 5-3 after finishing 2-2 on Saturday.
The Bearkats had an impressive first day of the tournament finishing with a record of 3-1, which included a win against Vanderbilt in which the team was able to score over 200 points in each game.
The third-place finish came after posting the 3-1 record on Friday and following up with two losses to Vanderbilt and LA Tech to open Saturday. The Bearkats were able to come back and defeat Texas Southern University and Prairie View A&M University.
Senior Hayley Connelly had the highest pin total of the day for the Kats with a 268-point game on Saturday.
Freshman Denise Blankenzee continues to be a strong anchor for the Bearkats with a 205 average for the tournament after her MVP performance in the LA Tech Invitational.
The conclusion of this tournament wraps up the shortened fall season for the Bearkat bowling program. They will compete again Jan. 22 when they will face off in the Columbia Saint 300 in Valley Park, Missouri.
