The Sam Houston women’s basketball team suffered another loss on the road Thursday night at Louisiana Tech.
SHSU kept it competitive early on, with both teams entering halftime tied at 32-32. However, the Bearkats struggled with turnovers and rebounding in the second half, allowing Louisiana Tech to pull away for a 76-55 victory.
LA Tech dominated the second and third quarters, which included an eight-point run at the end of the game that allowed them to stretch the lead above 20 points.
The scoring leaders for the Bearkats were Deborah Ogayemi with 15 points and Fanta Kone with 12 points. Overall, the team shot 18-of-47 from the field, with 21 turnovers and only 28 rebounds.
The Bearkats will look to snap their losing streak and finish the season strong as they face UTEP on March 6, followed by a matchup with New Mexico State on March 8.
