Huntsville is being treated by a double fisted dose of weekend entertainment thanks to Humphrey’s and The Jolly Fox, which have the same owner.
Humphrey’s, located on 1930 Sam Houston Ave. next to Wendy’s, is a popular lunch spot in Huntsville, with a patio and sports bar.
Frozen wells are the drinks bringing in the crowds, right now, according Eric Marks, manager at Humphrey’s. Marks said that since the climate has improved, everyone is flocking to the Humphrey’s patio.
“Now that the sun is out, everyone wants a frozen drink,” Marks said. Frozen drinks are only $1 until 6 p.m.
Marks said by far the busiest day of the week, however, is Tuesday nights.
“Tuesday’s we have $3 pitchers and $2 ‘South of the Border’ longnecks,” Marks said. “‘South of the Border'” longnecks include Dos Equis, Corona, and anything else from, where else, south of the border.”
However, Marks said Humphrey’s has popular everyday specials, as well, including $1.75 wells and longnecks, and $2 premium drinks, like Crown Royal whiskey.
Marks said Humphrey’s is not holding any special events in March, due to the lack of clientele resulting from the upcoming spring break vacation at SHSU.
“Can’t have anything special when there aren’t any people in town,” Marks said.
However, Marks said the month of April would see the inception of “Texas Music Tuesdays.”
“We will have a lot of big names here,” Marks said.
The Jolly Fox, located at 2504 Sam Houston Ave., is one of the most popular spots in Huntsville to visit for drinking and dancing. The music played at “The Fox” is a mix of contemporary dance and country music. Basically, the music played is anything that is popular at the moment.
William Maloy, a junior kinesiology major, said The Fox is a great place to go because they have great drink specials.
“It’s a good place to go for a few drinks when your budget is stretched,” Maloy said.
Upcoming special offers at The Jolly Fox include 25 cent well drinks and big beers on Tuesday nights.
The club is also organizing a “White Trash Trailer Bash” on March 13. Then on March 20, Doug Miller and Jangle Walker will play live at The Jolly Fox. Advance tickets for the upcoming concert went on sale Monday for a cost of $8 apiece.
