The Bearkat football team will be in action Saturday afternoon for the annual spring game, starting at 2 p.m.The spring game marks the culmination of several weeks of work in the team’s spring practice.”The spring game for us is more of a fun game,” said Bearkat head coach Ron Randleman. “We’ve gotten most of the work that we’re going to get done. It’s kind of a last opportunity to be evaluated, and we’re certainly doing a lot of individual evaluations.”The game plans for the two teams are not always the same as normal because booster coaches that buy the team get to choose the plays.”It might be one guy or it might be 10 of them coaching, and they all like to have some fun and call some things,” Randleman said. “It’s not quite on the same level as a normal game from that standpoint. It’s a little bit more relaxed of an atmosphere with an emphasis on enjoyment.”Buying the teams is just one of the many options available for bidders at the dinner and auction fundraiser on Friday night. Randleman said the purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money and have fun.”We’ve had a great spring. Our guys have really worked hard, our scrimmages have been good,” he said. “I’d like to see us not have a lot of penalties and turnovers but you’ll see some good hitting, you’ll see some good football being played.”
