For a guy with the last name “Smart,” Oklahoma State’s biggest star did something pretty stupid Saturday. With 6.2 seconds left in the Cowboys’ eventual 65-61 loss to Texas Tech, Marcus Smart shoved a fan standing on the baseline.
Smart recognized his mistake, according to Yahoo news:
“This is not how I conduct myself,” said Smart, a top NBA prospect. “This is not how the program is run. This is not how I was raised. I let my emotions get the best of me. It’s something I’ll have to learn from, a lesson I’ll have to learn from. The consequences that are coming with it , I’m taking full responsibility. No fingers pointing, this is all upon me.”
The Oklahoma State star has been suspended three games after shoving a fan, later identified as Jeff Orr, in the final minutes of his team’s 65-61 loss at Texas Tech, Cowboys coach Travis Ford announced. Smart was handed a technical foul after the incident but was not ejected from the game.
The fan, Orr, said:
My actions last night were inappropriate and do not reflect myself or Texas Tech.
