Alex Rodriguez’s grievance hearing to challenge the 211-game suspension began Monday.

ESPN reported Monday if the case doesn’t settle, Fredric Horowitz is expected to make a decision in winter.

Rodriguez received his suspension alongside 14 other MLB players connected with the Miami-based clinic, Biogenesis. Of those names, including Milwaukee Brewers star Ryan Braun and Texas Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz, all accepted their punishments except for Rodriguez.

Although a first time offender, which warrants a 50-game suspension, Rodriguez’s case called for a harsher punishment.

Biogenesis owner Anthony Bosch has been reported to have extensive evidence of Rodriguez’s use and purchase of performance-enhancing drugs, according to the New York Post.

SB Nation reports Rodriguez’s attorney, Joseph Tacopina, said the initial hearing went well.

Rodriguez is on track to reel in $25 million, with a $6 million bonus if he ties Willie Mays’ career home run milestone, SB Nation said.
