Following the success of the Huntsville history-themed mural that was completed this past summer, artist Lee Jamison has his sights set on a new project.
Lee Jamison, an artist who specializes in murals all over the state of Texas, is currently working on a new piece right in the middle of downtown Huntsville. It is located next door to Volume Music, the local record and music shop.
Jamison says the opportunity came to him following the positive reception from both locals and visitors regarding his most recent Huntsville-themed mural.
“The opportunity to do it came because of my history mural on the other block over there, and that has been very well-received by the community,” Jamison said. “There was an old mural flaking off on the wall here and the arts commission told me there was an opportunity to do a mural here.”
The inspiration for the mural comes from what Jamison says are the underappreciated foliage in nature, such as micro-flowers that only span a few millimeters in length and most people do not know exist.
“You’ve got these little, tiny flowers that from a bug’s-eye view just look magnificent, and nobody ever notices that,” Jamison said.
Jamison has every intention to continue leaving his mark around Huntsville. He has even teased a potential collaboration with Sam Houston State University.
“The university has been talking with me about the possibility of a mural project that would be celebrating [SHSU’s] 150th anniversary,” Jamison revealed.
