The Sam Houston baseball team dominated Prairie View A&M University 16-1 in Saturday’s series finale at Don Sanders Stadium.
The Bearkats used their hot bats to take control of the game against the Panthers, securing a sweep in the three-game series. SHSU improved its record to 8-7 and is now on a four-game winning streak.
Despite a slight rain delay in the fifth inning, the Bearkats still had momentum to score four more runs in the sixth.
Pitcher Collin Aloisio struck out four and had five hits allowed in five innings. Mason Murphy and Kade Neuenschwander followed with scoreless frames in the sixth and seventh innings.
Sam Houston took advantage of errors to get five runs across in the third inning. Wes Baker added an RBI double in the fifth inning, then scored on a two-run homer by Hunter Alvord. Easton Dean, in his first at bat of the year, hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning.
The Bearkats will begin a three-game series at Baylor in Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark on Tuesday
